Artist Residency

Students will have an opportunity to explore their communities and create a “quilt” square as part of a painted mural. The completed mural will be a colorful collection of images reflecting students’ perceptions of their community.

Students will produce sketchbooks, develop art vocabulary and syntax skills, create written reflections, and a completed collaborative mural.

As a result of the residency, students will be able to:

  • Create and utilize sketchbooks for drawing prompts
  • Describe and evaluate a work of art
  • Identify and apply warm and cool colors to evoke mood
  • Understand and apply color theory to a work of art
  • Describe their completed artwork
  • Participate in meaningful discussions about community and about art
  • Co-create a work of art reflecting their individual and collective views
