Lane Arts Council announces $49,050 in grants to five community arts organizations and 24 arts projects in the Eugene area for the 2009-2010 arts year beginning July 2009. The Community Arts Program is supported through a partnership with the Cultural Services Division of the City of Eugene.
The grants help ensure diverse and accessible arts opportunities and experiences for Eugene artists, audiences and other participants. Community arts funds have been budgeted and allocated to the Lane Arts Council since the early 1980s by the City of Eugene to assist a variety of community-based cultural arts projects. The City’s room tax fund of over $1.5 million contributes to the general fund, which provides the primary support for Cultural Services, including the Hult Center and Community Arts.
This year, 24 projects will receive $27,000 in Community Arts Project Grants, ranging from $1,600 to $500, and five community arts organizations, with annual budgets above $100,000, will receive $22,050 in Program Grants ranging from $6,300 to $3,150.
