Description:

Many artists are reluctant or unprepared to tackle their own promotion. Sustaining a life in the arts requires words, both written and spoken, to make connections and introduce your work. Vicki Amorose believes that finding the right words can make you more confident. This workshop uses Vicki’s book, Art-Write: The Writing Guide for Visual Artists. Bringing your copy is recommended, but not required.

Participants will engage in thinking and writing exercises, with focus on creating strong sentences to use for the artist statement, email inquiry letters, and spoken interactions. The workshop is geared toward visual artists, but arts professionals and artists from other genres may also find it helpful.

To prepare for the class, download a free chapter called “The Handshake Speech” from Vicki’s website.
