How we communicate to our stakeholders and attract new people to our art is essential in engaging and developing audiences. This workshop will focus on communication plan development – a process of prioritizing what information is important to share through language and methods that are relevant to constituencies. The narrative thread that creates a story about you or your organization can connect development, marketing, educational, and creative goals. From one-to-one direct communication methods to print, online, and social media outlets – thoughtful and purposeful communication is essential in connecting your mission to the larger community.

About the presenter:
Darrel Kau has over 18 years experience marketing cultural organizations and events. He has held arts management positions with the University of Oregon, Hult Center for the Performing Arts, Eugene Ballet, and Eugene Concert Choir. He is an adjunct faculty member of the University of Oregon’s Arts & Administration program where he teaches graduate and undergraduate courses on marketing and fundraising. Currently he is the Development Director for Food for Lane County where he manages all marketing, communication and fundraising activities for the second largest food bank in Oregon.

This workshop is co-presented by Lane Arts Council and City of Eugene
