Lane Arts Council announces $56,000 in grants to arts organizations and arts projects in the Eugene area. The Community Arts Grant Program is funded by the City of Eugene Cultural Services Division and administered by Lane Arts Council.
The Community Arts Grants help ensure diverse and accessible arts opportunities and experiences for Eugene artists, audiences and participants.
This year nine community arts organizations, with annual budgets above $100,000, will receive Program Grants and 16 projects will receive Project Grants. Project grants will fund: participatory ballet experiences; theatre productions; music, writing, and film festivals; exhibitions; multidisciplinary integrated arts projects; slam poetry and dance performances; and various workshops.
One of the projects is a theatre production that provides children with autism the opportunity to perform and learn about theatre. Another celebrates women in music and art through the month-long GRRRLZ ROCK Music & Arts Festival.
“Arts and culture is the heartbeat of our city and the reason why so many of us love living here. Lane Arts Council is honored to partner with the City of Eugene to award grants to local artists and arts organizations who offer high-quality diverse programs. Through this partnership, we will ensure that our arts community will continue to thrive,” states Liora Sponko, Lane Arts Council Executive Director.
“Our city becomes stronger when great partners like Lane Arts Council come together to work toward a thriving arts and culture sector. We are proud of these grants because they contribute to an unfilled niche that is important to the sector,” states Isaac Marquez, City of Eugene Cultural Services Interim Director.
