Lane Arts Council is seeking visual, performance, and cultural expression teaching artists for our roster. These artists should have strong classroom experience and provide high-quality arts education to Lane County schools. We are looking for artists who can teach mural-making, ceramics, glass fusion, fiber arts, vocal music, or share a cultural art not currently represented on our roster. Some examples of culture-specific programs we seek to bring into our roster include Native storytellers, Pacific Northwest Native artists, East Asian music/dance/art, Bollywood and other Indian dance forms, Middle Eastern/Northern African music/dance/art, South African music/dance/art, South American music/dance/art, and other cultural expressions not currently represented on our roster.
Artists work with students and teachers to create extended educational arts activities, teach new skills, develop creative thinking, and offer career insights. Quality arts instruction through in-school artist residencies provides young people with authentic learning experiences that engage minds, hearts, and bodies.
This is a contracted position. A one week artist residency typically provides four learning sessions per day, over five days (20 hours). Artist residencies can run anywhere from one to four weeks, depending on the size of the school and the artist’s availability. Most residencies work in elementary and middle schools across Lane County.
Do you have experience with arts education or know someone who might be qualified for this opportunity?
