Lane Arts Council announces $64,500 in grants to 22 community arts projects and arts organizations in the Eugene area. The Community Arts Grant program is funded by the City of Eugene Cultural Services Division and Banner Bank and administered by Lane Arts Council.
Community Arts Grants provide funding to support community arts projects and programs that impact Eugene audiences, especially those who may face barriers to accessing or participating in arts and culture programming. This grant program is essential to strengthening our arts and culture community in Eugene.
This year seven community arts organizations, with annual budgets above $100,000, will receive Program Grants (up to $10,000 over two years) and 15 community arts projects will receive Project Grants.
Two-year program grants were awarded to help arts organizations fulfill their strategic goals and reach the next level of their organizational development. Maude Kerns Art Center was one of the community arts organizations who received a program grant this year.
“Grant funding will help the Maude Kerns Art Center achieve our goals of expanding our high-quality arts education programs and exhibition opportunities, and increasing community outreach,” stated Executive Director Michael Fisher.
Project grants were awarded to community arts projects happening between July 1, 2019 and June 30, 2020 that emphasize accessibility to underserved audiences and provide arts programming that takes place in the City of Eugene. This year project grants will fund: community theatre productions, music and dance performances, festivals, art-making opportunities, art exhibitions, summer rock camps, workshops, open mics, and more.
Music’s Edge Rock Camp received a project grant to support scholarships for their summer music camp at WOW Hall.
“Music’s Edge is beyond excited for the opportunity to increase its reach with the help of the Community Arts Grant,” shared manager Tim McLaughlin. “Over the last 12 years, the program has grown immensely, but the biggest sticking point has always been needing to grow a scholarship fund to help those who need a little help to enroll. This grant helps immensely, by creating access to even more up-and-coming rock stars in our community.”
