Founded in 1976 as the centralized arts agency serving the Lane County region, Lane Arts Council is a multi-faceted nonprofit arts organization providing arts education, arts advocacy, artist support, and community arts programs and services. Annually, Lane Arts Council serves over 13,000 K-12 students through 4,500+ hours of arts learning, 900 artists (including our roster of 50 teaching artists), dozens of arts venues and arts organizations, and welcomes almost 15,000 residents and visitors to community events.
Mission
Lane Arts Council cultivates belonging, learning and investment to engage all of Lane County in the transformative power of the arts.
We carry out our mission in the following ways:
Arts Education- Serves as a leader in arts education to ensure students throughout Lane County have access to high-quality arts learning. Programs include in-school Artist Residencies, Creative Link Arts Integration, Design Arts Apprenticeships, and Performance Assemblies.
Arts Experiences- Connects communities and visitors with accessible arts experiences that cultivate belonging, build community, and engage diverse artists across disciplines. Lane Arts Council’s First Friday ArtWalk and ArtTalks highlight the diverse cultural vibrancy of the Eugene/Springfield area.
Artist Support- Empowers artists, performers, and cultural producers through professional development, resources, project support, and opportunities for artists to share their work.
Arts Sector Advancement- Contributes to local arts advocacy and collaborative arts sector advancement (recent work has included DEIA+ roundtables, participating in advocacy and arts sector networks, supporting development of a potential cultural district, creative placemaking, etc.)
Vision
All arts are deeply embedded in and essential to the social, cultural, educational and economic well-being of greater Lane County.
