Lane Arts Council announces almost $50,000 in grants to arts organizations and arts projects in the Eugene area. The Community Arts Program is supported through a partnership with the City of Eugene Cultural Services Division.

The grants help ensure diverse and accessible arts opportunities and experiences for Eugene artists, audiences and participants. Community arts funds have been budgeted and allocated to Lane Arts Council since the early 1980s by the City of Eugene to assist a variety of community-based arts projects.

This year, eight community arts organizations, with annual budgets above $100,000, will receive $26,000 in Program Grants ranging from $2,000 to $6,000.  Seventeen projects will receive $23,165 in Community Arts Project Grants.  Ten of these projects meet the City’s goal of supporting programs that emphasize inclusion of underrepresented and underserved communities, and will be highlighted in the City’s communication tools.

The members of the panel include the following community leaders: Vicki Krohn Amorose-Author of Art-Write: The Writing Guide for Visual Artists, Voice-over Talent; Ross Anderson-Lane ESD Grant Writer Specialist, University of Oregon Ph.D. Student in Education Methodology, Policy & Leadership; Tomi Douglas Anderson-Director of the City of Eugene Cultural Services Division; Erin Empey-University of Oregon Masters Student in Arts Administration, Dancer; Michael Knackstedt-Co-Founder at Small Howl Booking and Promotions, Development Associate at FOOD for Lane County; Jessica Z Mendoza-Founder of Eugene Arte Latino, Photographer; and Sheri Moore- Springfield City Councilor.
