Lane Arts Council is launching a new grant for individual artists!
Administered by Lane Arts Council and funded by the City of Eugene Cultural Services Division and individual donors, grant funding is for projects happening between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021.
Our Artist Grant provides financial support to individual artists to move forward a new project or creative endeavor that promises to advance their career or artistic development.
This could include developing and performing a new original play, generating a new body of work and producing an exhibition or installation, producing and performing new music or dance, writing and performing new poetry, and other creative works.
Projects can be of any or multiple arts disciplines, but artists must apply under one of the following categories: 1) Visual and Media Arts: visual arts, craft, design, installation, film/video, photography, etc., 2) Music and Dance: music composition, performance, choreography, recording/video, etc., and 3) Theatre and Literary Arts: playwriting, theatre performance, poetry, published works, etc.
Projects must culminate in at least one public presentation, free and accessible to the Eugene public. All work must be new or in development and not previously shown.
“Artists are key to thriving, creative communities. They inject energy into our community, encourage innovation, and help us see beyond what we think is possible,” states Liora Sponko, Lane Arts Council Executive Director. “There are few opportunities for individual artists to receive financial support for their work. Many grant programs are limited to nonprofit organizations that focus on community-based projects. We therefore saw a need to create a grant program for individual artists to advance their own work and career, take creative risks, and showcase their work for all of us to enjoy.”
