Project Description

Mural Mice artists work collaboratively with students to conceptualize and paint a permanent mural.  Themes and design for the mural are guided by school values, educational curriculum, and students imagination. Students learn about impactful murals around the world and the importance of public art as a catalyst for community empowerment, healing and expression. 

Final Product

The final product is a long lasting interior or exterior mural for the school or public space. 

Learning Objectives

  • Through this residency, students will learn about mural arts as a force for social change.
  • Students will work together to imagine a mural and to express their message visually.
  • Students will learn to consider principles of art and design in the composition of the mural.
  • Students will have the opportunity to practice painting techniques, color mixing, enlarging an image using the grid method, and teamwork.

Suggested Grades

  • This residency program is designed for grade levels K-12.

  • 4 visits at 45 minutes each
