The First Friday ArtWalk guided tour, hosted by Kelly Johnson, the Executive Director of Arts & Business Alliance of Eugene (ABAE),  kicks off the new year with a mix of work by local and nationally renowned artists.

JOJO ABOT, Hult Center

The tour begins at 5:30pm at Maurie Jacobs Community Room (Hult Center for the Performing Arts) with multi-media work by JOJO ABOT – Manifestation of God  (image on right), who will visit Eugene for a special residency with the Hult Center. An archive of 2D and 3D artworks explore the manifestations and reaffirmations of the divine feminine as the essence of love, rebirth, imagination, healing, magic and life herself among other glorious things. Existing beyond the confines of physical form, this essence and energy finds harmony and beauty within the universe aiming to represent the black being as divine, all powerful and everlasting. Ultimately offering a mythical mirror, portal and provocation towards SELF discovery, spiritual grounding and community elevation.

Adam Grosowsky, Karin Clarke Gallery

Karin Clarke Gallery (760 Willamette St) features grand scale oil paintings by Adam Grosowsky, well-known Eugene artist and Lane Community College instructor. Grosowsky is best known for his grand-scale paintings, with bold compositions and dark backgrounds, and this show will be no exception. This new group of paintings is a diverse collection of themes, including his signature large-scale heads and portraits of women.

The tour will also interview artists Jacqueline Davis at InEugene Real Estate (100 E Broadway), five artists in the show “A Study of Values” at Oregon Art Supply(1020 Pearl St), and Benjamin Terrell at Epic Seconds (30 E 11th Ave).
