First Friday ArtWalk November 1, 2024, in Downtown Eugene

Eugene, OR – Celebrate Eugene’s vibrant art scene during the November 1st First Friday ArtWalk. Start your self-guided tour at the Farmers Market Pavilion (85 E 8th Ave), where you can pick up your ArtWalk Guide and shop the Artist Marketplace before exploring the many galleries and arts venues of downtown Eugene from 5:30-8:00pm. The monthly First Friday ArtWalk is presented by Lane Arts Council and is always free.

In the Farmers Market Pavilion: NAACM Fashion Show & Artist Marketplace
This November, the Native American Arts & Crafts Makers light up the Farmers Market Pavilion with an Artist Marketplace opening at 5:30pm, followed by their inaugural fashion show, Futurism Inspired by Tradition: What does Indigenous Fashion Mean to You?, celebrating Native and Indigenous artists and designers. The program’s opening ceremony begins at 6:30pm, with the fashion show beginning at 7:00pm. This special program is presented in partnership with the Native American Arts and Crafts Makers and City of Eugene Cultural Services.

November First Friday ArtWalk Sponsor
Eugene Concert Choir is celebrating their Golden 50th Anniversary Season! Join them at the Hult Center for the season opening performances of Renaissance Revels, a nod to their past English Madrigal dinners, on Saturday, November 16th at 7:00pm, and Sunday, November 17th at 2:30 pm. Then experience Handel’s complete Messiah on December 15th, performed by the 100-Voice Eugene Concert Choir, guest soloists, and full Eugene Concert Orchestra. First Friday ArtWalk details

As part of the November 1st First Friday ArtWalk, the following galleries and art venues will be open from 5:30pm-8:00pm (unless otherwise noted): 

  • Allies, LLC (200 E 11th Ave, Ste 130) Check out the new Art Annex! Featured art this month is Group Art. See all original artworks thoughtfully created at Allies by member artists. All work sold goes to benefit the Allies Art Fund.
  • Art with Alejandro(5th St Market Alley, Ste 104) Visit us during the monthly First Friday ArtWalk to see guest art and Alejandro’s newest works on display in our gallery! Come check out Paisley’s portraits “Goblin” and “Butterfleyes” and Alejandro’s “Furious Tiger” and “Dragon” paintings, among other new works. This month our new feature artist is plein air painter Jerry Ross, featuring two stunning local views.
  • Broadway Commerce Center(44 W Broadway) Eugene-based artists Marie McMahon and Heather Rose LeCompte present a joint exhibition. Marie McMahon specializes in creating fine art commissions and gallery paintings in the Pacific Northwest. Her artwork showcases vibrant colors and an expressive, playful style. Referencing a wide range of subjects, including poppies, waterscapes, and historic homes, Marie utilizes an intuitive painting process that evokes the beauty and spirit of her subject matter. Heather Rose LeCompte, a contemporary folk and abstract artist, creates mixed-media paintings inspired by life on the West Coast. Her art nurtures compassion, courage, and introspection, providing a mirror for self-discovery and pathways to a deeper connection with the human experience.
  • City Exhibitions:
    • EMERGE continues the artistic activation of window spaces downtown and supports professional exhibition experiences for new and emerging artists.
    • 99 W 10th Ave (south windows) QUEER FACES OF EUGENE, a digital art display by Kiki Boniki, celebrates the intersectionality of queer, trans, BIPOC, gay, gender-nonconforming, drag-loving, sex-positive, interesting citizenry of Eugene and the Pacific Northwest.
  • ColdFire Brewing (263 Mill St) Throughout her artistic journey, Lisa McElroy has explored various styles and techniques, continually bushing boundaries of her creativity. Her transition to alcohol ink art has opened up to new avenues for expression, allowing her to create vibrant, fluid designs that capture the imagination. Lisa’s work often reflects the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. In addition to her individual artwork, Lisa has participated in numerous art fairs, believing in the importance of community engagement and support for fellow artists. As Lisa continues to develop her craft, she remains inspired by the world around her and is excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. With each piece she creates, Lisa McElroy not only captivates viewers but also contributes to the rich tapestry of the local art scene in Eugene, Oregon.
  • Cultural Currents
    • Farmers Market Pavilion (85 E 8th Ave) Woman Working in the Field, this collage piece is a collaboration between the art of Hampton Rodriguez and Sofia Carpenter-Rodriguez. Blending visual representation with sociological insights to highlight the vital role of migrant workers.
    • Hult Center Plaza 6th Ave A’ppealing and Leaf Dance are two different steel and reclaimed materials sculptures, by Artist Jenny Ellsworth. Through her work, Jenny breathes life into the forgotten, transforming discarded metal into beauty and wonder.  Each piece tells a unique story, celebrating the journey of the materials she embraces.
  • Eugene Public Library (100 W 10th Ave, Newspapers and Magazines Room, 2nd floor) A colorful show by the Eugene Modern Quilt Guild, a group of about 40 artists of the mid-Willamette Valley. On exhibit through November.
  • Good Creative Design (942 Olive St) Good Creative is taking a break this month to welcome the newest team member into the world. Founder Adam Junod and his partner, Emily Little, will be on the journey of childbirth, one of life’s great art forms. Congrats! ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . ݁. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . ݁. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . ݁. ݁₊
  • Karin Clarke Gallery (760 Willamette St.) Margaret Coe Light, Woods and River Flow. October 23–November 30, 2024. She will be there for First Friday November.
  • The New Zone Gallery (110 E 11th Ave) In addition to the eclectic mix of art created by the New Zone members and live music, there are three special shows during the month of November: Helene Zemer’s Nature’s Spectrum in Glass, glass art that captures nature’s vibrant, fleeting moments; Erik Roggeveen’s A Burning Empire, a collection of silkscreens saved from the raging fires of civilization; and Sandy Sanders and Ralf Huber’s Make Art not War, an art installation that speaks to the soul of the modern human condition.
  • One Wall Gallery at Epic Seconds (30 E 11th Ave) Spirit Hands, new work by Shelley Turley showing through November 30th. From Turley: “My work can be seen as narrating the search for spiritual ground or meaning to replace a lost community or alienation from deeper cultural roots: strange pagan rituals, contemporary witchcraft ceremonies visited by hazy spirits that don’t quite materialize.” All of the pieces from this show come from Turley’s Friday Sketch series, where the artist creates and posts a drawing each week.
  • Window Activation (806 Charnelton St) Originsby Julie Anderson Bailey explores themes inspired by the raw elements of the Earth–rock, water, and air–with a nod towards the roots that connect and sustain us, intertwining the natural world with human existence.
  • OSLP Arts & Culture Center (110 E 11th Ave, Ste C) Welcome back the annual ArtChics sale! For many devoted ArtChics fans, this annual sale marks the beginning of holiday festivities, providing a chance to buy beautiful and unique hand-made goods, see old friends, and support local arts and organizations. Those in-the-know arrive early! Many of these unique works are made from donated and/or recycled materials. There will be a plethora of wonderful handmade treasures, such as jewelry, mixed media sculpture, felted fashion, art cards, pottery, textile arts, paintings, and much more! This is a wonderful opportunity to purchase handmade art wares for self, home and as unique holiday gifts.
  • Our 21st Century Renaissance (132 E Broadway, Ste 212) Continuing in November: A Celebration of the Female Form and Thi Nguyen’s “Abandoning Vanity” as our featured artwork.
  • PLAY (232 W 5th Ave) Alien Fairy is an artist located in Eugene, Oregon. With a passion for all things whimsical and nerdy, they draw inspiration from anime and video games. Their artistic journey began in childhood, and they ventured into the business aspect only a year ago. They are excited to explore where this journey will lead them in the future.
  • Urban Canvas Murals — The City of Eugene’s local mural program presents:
    • 941 Willamette St Alley – Wayde Love’s newly completed mural Radically Radiant
    • 1059 Willamette StGertrude, a portrait honoring the memory of a friend’s departed hen by Bayne Gardner
    • 1059 Willamette StTake Flight by Teak, Capsel Rock, and Eliza Be (Williams) is an extension of Teak’s previous form line murals already on the building, representing the traditional Tlingit art from Alaska.

Additional venues include: Bumble Boutique (233 W 5th Ave), Flux Crystals (280 W Broadway), and Starlight Lounge (830 Olive St).
