Visual Arts Week 2020 is coming this August! Hosted by City of Eugene Cultural Services, Lane Arts Council, and Maude Kerns Art Center, this will be a week-long celebration of the visual arts in Eugene, including the Mayor’s Art Show, Salon des Refusés, Eugene Biennial, street art, workshops, studio tours, and more. Visual Arts Week celebrates and gives visibility to the visual arts community by providing a platform for experimentation, discussion, and public engagement. This year, events will be held in-person or online as required for public health and safety.
Applications are now open for local artists and creatives interested in participating. Submit your idea for a workshop, temporary art installation, or open studio tour to be a part of this year’s Visual Arts Week. Submissions are due no later than 11:59 p.m. on May 3rd, and applicants will be informed of selection by May 18.
- Artists may host a two- to four-hour workshop at their own studio or at the Maude Kerns Art Center. Limited instructor compensation is available, or you may charge a minimal fee to attend the workshop. Full submission details and application available here.
- Temporary art installations for Visual Arts Week may be 2D, 3D, 4D, participatory, and/or performative. Two $800 stipends will be available. Full submission details and application available here.
- Studio spaces to be featured in our open studio tour on August 9th must be located in the city of Eugene and must be a dedicated art studio. Artists have the option of doing a short (10-20 minute) artist talk or demonstration during open hours. Full submission details and application available here.
We are excited to see what this year’s Visual Arts Week submissions bring! All local artists and creatives are encouraged to apply, and are welcome to reach out with any questions.
