Project Description
In this residency, students will learn the basics of printing on clay using flowers, feathers, leaves, and more! Students will have the unique experience of seeing the ceramic process from beginning to end, will get hands-on experience working with clay, and will create a original clay tile. Tiles can be used for classroom or hallway installations or sent home with the students. Creating an installation gives students an opportunity to leave behind a piece of their artwork that will add to the beauty of the school. Students will also get the chance to create a small pinch pot bowl that they can take home.
Final Product
Each student will create a tile that becomes part of an art installation at the school, or taken home. They will also take home a small pinch pot bowl that can be treasured for years to come.

Why I teach art:
“I love teaching kids visual art because it is a way of expression that is still intuitive when you’re young. Working with clay specifically gives students the opportunity to connect somatically with their bodies. My hope is that, through our time together, kids will be encouraged to trust their own unique creative voices.”
