Mural Bike Tour Guide
Hop onto your bike and join us for the 2016 Mural Bike Tour! This free guided tour will visit 16 murals located throughout the Whiteaker Neighborhood and Downtown Eugene and features muralists on site to speak about their work. The tour will travel approximately 2 miles by bicycle and will be led by 20×21 EUG Mural Project Committee Member Paul Godin.
Ila Rose, Kari Johnson, Jordan Schaefer-Limbach, Ron Lafond, Valentina Gonzalez, Hans d’Hollosy, and Jim Evangelista will all be present to speak on behalf of their work during the tour.
This event includes 2 murals that are a part of the new mural initiative titled the 20×21 EUG Mural Project. The 20×21 EUG Mural Project plans to create twenty or more world-class outdoor murals in Eugene before the 2021 IAAF World Championships. In June, Acidum Project of Brazil painted a mural on the side of Cowfish Dance Club and Los Angeles/Brooklyn based artist Beau Stanton’s mural on the McDonald Theatre is currently is progress.
Mural Bike Tour Coordinator Jessica Watson states, “We are fortunate that Eugene has such a fantastic collection of murals! Our Mural Bike Tour provides the unique opportunity for attendees to learn about the featured murals directly from the artists. We are also thrilled to highlight the two newest murals that are a part of the 20×21 EUG Mural Project.”
The 2016 Mural Bike Tour is sponsored by the City of Eugene Cultural Services, John A. Wolfe, PC of Speer Hoyt, LLC, the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, First National Taphouse, and Cascadian Courier Collective.
