Lane Arts Council is looking for artists who can provide in-school Artist Residencies, Summer Residencies, and Afterschool Residencies, as well as for artists who can provide one-time performances in a school assembly setting. Artists may apply to one or both categories.

Through Lane Arts Council’s Artist Residency and Assembly programs, professional artists across multiple disciplines engage students in educational arts activities, teach new skills, develop creative thinking, and bring the joy of the arts into local classrooms. Quality arts instruction provides young people with authentic learning experiences that engage minds, hearts, and bodies.

During an Artist Residency, Teaching Artists provide each classroom with four learning sessions at 45 minutes each. Depending on the number of classes in a school, a typical Artist Residency can range from one to four weeks. Artist Residencies occur across Lane County, mostly in elementary schools. Artists offering Performance Assemblies visit schools for one-time events, offering students an exciting look into their art form. Assemblies are typically 45-60 minutes in length and are often performed for the entire school.

In this round of recruitment, we are prioritizing artists from highly requested art forms and art forms not currently represented on our roster. These include:

  • Culture and Identity-based arts
  • Assembly performers of all kinds
  • Muralists comfortable working with elementary age students
  • Ceramics/clay
  • Nature and science inspired art
  • Hip-hop dance
  • Visual arts not currently represented on our roster
  • Multi-Lingual artists

All artists, regardless of art form and practice, will be reviewed with full consideration and are encouraged to apply.
