Description:
Event coordination is a process that has many moving pieces. This workshop breaks down this process and goes over the checklist you can use in planning future events. You will learn how to establish your event goals and objectives, develop an event master plan, identify venues and negotiate details, and other aspects of event planning.

About Jessica Zapata:
Jessica Zapata, originally from Mexico, is an avid cultural manager and promoter, multidisciplinary teaching artist, and mentor of arts and cultural programs. She is the Founder and Artistic Director of Eugene Arte Latino (EAL), whose mission is to encourage and promote Latin American culture through bilingual workshops, artistic activities, cultural programs, and other events that contribute to the human and social development of community members. Since 2007, Zapata has helped connect Spanish-speaking artists with events, resources, exhibitions, and professional development opportunities, and has facilitated an extensive link of different cultural manifestations between Mexico and other Latin American countries with various states of the United States.

About Professional Practice:

This workshop is part of Professional Practice, Lane Arts Council’s professional development program for artists and creatives. Participants continually learn together through an ongoing series of workshops. Workshops will feature presentations from regional and national experts, individual and group work, and assignments to be completed following the workshop.

This iteration of Professional Practice is in collaboration with Lane Arts Council’s Fiesta Cultural program. By presenting workshops in Spanish we hope to support the development of artists and cultural producers from within the Latino/a/x/e community, especially those not served by previous workshops presented in English.

Cost:
This workshop is presented at no cost, but will offer an opportunity for pay-what-you-will contributions by attendees after each workshop.
