***Registration for All About Art Camp is currently full.***
Lane Arts Council is excited to bring our All About Art Summer Camp to the Fern Ridge area. This fun and engaging day camp offers youth entering into the 1st through 8th grades a week of creative, safe, and hands-on experiences. This summer’s camp will be led by three local teaching artists who will inspire the campers through a variety of visual arts.
Camp Schedule:
Theme: Building Community
Dates: Monday-Friday, August 7-11th
Time: 9am–12 pm
Grades: students entering 1st-8th in fall of 2023
Location: Elmira Elementary School, 88960 Territorial Hwy, Elmira, OR 97437
Fees: $75/week including a mid-morning snack (50% tuition assistance can be requested on the registration form)
Teaching Artists:
Merideth Ferrell – Silk Painting Together
Merideth Ferrell has been part of the All About Art Summer Camp since it began. This summer she will teach students how to create colorful designs and images on silk. Students will work together to create a large silk mural.
Tom Miller – Building Community 3D Structures
Cottage Grove artist Tom Miller will teach students a range of paper-building techniques to design their own, three-dimensional home space, that will be connected to the rest of the class in a vibrant community grid. This giant, collaborative sculptural work becomes a visual metaphor for the interconnectedness and strength of our diverse community.
Alex Mauney – Collaborative Songwriting and Storytelling
With Eugene artist Alex Mauney, students will build and gather around a paper campfire before going on an imaginative journey of their own devising in this collaborative songwriting and storytelling program. Harmonicas in the key of C will be given to each student to keep. Turn-based gameplay using dice and a class-made map serves to provide story and material for the original songs students will write together.
Thank you to our last year’s All About Art summer camp sponsors:
City of Veneta, Fern Ridge School District, the Bill Wooten Endowment Fund of the Oregon Country Fair, the UO Duck Store, Cosmic Bliss, Capella Market, and Friendly Street Market.
Donate to All About Art Summer Camp Scholarships.
Help us match the City of Veneta’s scholarship contribution of $1,000 which will provide 50% scholarships to half of All About Art Summer Camp campers.
Matching funds will expand the number of students receiving 50% scholarships AND provide FULL tuition scholarships to students who would otherwise be unable to participate.
Your donation ensures that no student will be denied the opportunity to attend All About Art Summer Camp.
We also accept in-kind donations of snacks.
