PUBLIC PROCESS ARTIST IN RESIDENCE

ANTI-AESTHETIC (245 W 8th Ave)

Eugene Contemporary Art’s artist residency program Public Process is back with ECA artist-member Noelle Herceg in residence at the gallery space through April 3. Noelle Herceg’s process-driven practice draws circles in sands of materiality and ephemerality, between eco-materiality and immateriality, familliality and familiarity. Accumulating, growing, layering, brewing, peeling, ingesting—bodily leftovers are preserved and redigested. Temporal collections examine both archive and anarchive through personal urges, ancestorial pushes and pulls, and a fear of loss. Collection and recollection (of memory and material) outline an attempt to conserve the ephemeral, and collect the uncapturable. This is an open studio night with the artist to demystify the process of contemporary art making and invite conversation.  Read more
