ArtSpark Eugene is a collaborative initiative led by Rotary Club of Eugene, Lane Arts Council, Eugene Education Foundation, Eugene School District 4J to provide every elementary school in Eugene 4J with high-quality arts education through Lane Arts Council’s artist in residence program.
During their ArtSpark residency, students work with professional Lane Arts Council teaching artists across a wide variety of artistic media, from cartooning to glass-fusing and claymation video production. Research shows that participation in the arts increases student engagement and graduation rates. Students also build confidence and gain important life and career skills such as persistence, creative thinking, innovation, and learning from mistakes.
Because schools lack the resources needed to support high quality arts experiences on their own, community members have the opportunity to deeply impact thousands of students by participating in ArtSpark. When you buy a ticket and bid on art, weekend getaways, gift baskets, and wine, you are providing Eugene’s school-children the joy, confidence, and creativity that comes with hands-on arts experiences in the classroom.
